James Sharp opened on Morris Street in 1962 with one chair and a straight razor. He built something in Graduate Hospital that had nothing to do with trends and everything to do with standards.
Roy's father took over in 1987. The name above the door was the same. The scissors were the same. The standard was the same.
Roy has been behind the chair since 2003. He learned the way barbers learn — by watching for years, then picking up the scissors, then teaching someone else. That someone is Marcus.
Marcus started sweeping floors at ten. He learned geometry before he learned to fade. Now he cuts, and the neighborhood that watched him grow up sits in his chair without hesitation.
